Adopt-A-Natural Area


Description:

Adopters agree to care for a natural area for one year by picking up trash and reporting maintenance issues. This program provides opportunities for community members to take an active role in restoration efforts through stewardship.

  • Visit natural area once a month to pick up litter.
  • Report hours and maintenance issues in Engage.
  • Implement safe practices of yourself and all others involved during site visits.

Time Commitment:

Visit a natural area once each month. Can make your own schedule.

Licenses, Certifications, and Safety:

Training and Requirements:

  • Adopt-a-Natural Area Volunteer Training (online course)
  • You, and everyone in your group (if applicable) must sign a waiver.
  • Sign the Adopter Contract
  • Record your hours and impact through the City's online system, Engage. 
  • Opportunity to attend continuing education sessions. 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18 OR volunteer with an adult
  • Have transportation and access to the Internet

Dress Code:

While volunteering, the following items must be worn - 

  • Volunteer name badge
  • Volunteer hi-visibility vest
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Gloves
