Are you passionate about protecting the environment, navigating real-world regulations, and gaining hands-on experience in sustainability? The Environmental Regulatory Affairs (ERA) Division is looking for an enthusiastic intern to help drive environmental compliance efforts while learning from industry professionals.
- Responsibilities & Activities:
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Battery Compliance Program -Help manage and improve the City’s battery recycling program – a crucial initiative for sustainability. -Get the inside scoop on Universal Waste regulations and ensure compliance. -Participate in compliance audits and contribute to key reports.
- Asbestos Program -Support the City’s asbestos program and play a role in keeping people safe. -Learn to interpret real-world environmental regulations from the EPA and state agencies. -Gain experience reading laboratory analyses, a valuable skill for future environmental careers. -Assist with organizing and managing asbestos-related records.
- General ERA Projects & Administrative Tasks -Provide essential administrative support and help keep environmental initiatives running smoothly. -Attend meetings, take notes, and assist in project coordination. -Get creative and help develop educational materials on environmental compliance.

What We're Looking For:
- Environmental Enthusiast: Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working with data.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
- A Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information.
- Team Player: Thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with others.
- Time Commitment:
Between 2 and 20 hours a week. Flexible to your schedule!
- Licenses, Certifications, and Safety:
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license (some fieldwork may be required).
- 18+ years old to drive city vehicles

- Location:
Internship will be based out of the Utilities Service Center at 700 Wood Street in old town Fort Collins. Interns may need to drive throughout internship in their choice of personal vehicle or City vehicle.
