Description:

Gardens education volunteers help us fulfill our mission to improve the lives of people and inspire stewardship through horticulture. Volunteers can assist with a variety of youth programs year-round including but not limited to group tours, story times, camps and outreach. Tasks and responsibilities vary, training is provided, and all volunteers are welcome!

Responsibilities & Activities:
  • Participate in trainings and on-going learning opportunities
  • Assist, co-lead or lead garden and nature-based activities for groups of children ages 2-18
  • Enthusiasm for sharing a love of gardening and the natural world
  • Basic understanding of the Gardens on Spring Creek and general plant/garden ecosystem knowledge
  • Ability to read instructions, communicate clearly and follow instructions
  • Experience or interest in working with kids
Time Commitment:
  • In addition to the general volunteer onboarding, an additional pre-recorded training will be required
  • Varies depending on program but generally, Monday through Saturday mornings. Camps are full day programming
  • Review each program carefully. Some programs ask for a consistent commitment and others are better for sporadic involvement
Licenses, Certifications, and Safety:
  • A criminal background check is required for volunteers in this position
