Project Hort, short for horticulture, is a full summer stewardship and volunteer program for teens entering 7th-12th grade who are passionate about gardening, plants, animals or the environment. Over the course of the summer, with staff guidance and support, teens will be able to:
- Volunteer at The Gardens – gardening, teaching and helping guests
- Make a difference for their community through conservation projects
- Make great friends with similar interests and participate in fun events
This program is a full summer commitment (Jun 6 – Aug 5). However, we understand that vacations are important and will work with your schedule (There are no volunteer shifts the week of 4th of July).
- Days run 8:15-4:00 Monday through Friday
- 12 hours a week minimum is required for all teens. Tuesday afternoons from 12:00pm-4:00pm are required for our Team Meetings. The rest of the week is flexible scheduling with full or partial days up to 5 days a week.
- Volunteers will complete 150-250 hours over the summer. Volunteers that complete about 12 hours of volunteering per week will receive a $100 stipend for each benchmark met in the form of a visa gift card.
