Position Description

Overview: 

The Native Plant Garden at the Nix Natural Area was designed to serve as a demonstration garden.  Visitors will see beautiful plants that require little water and useful in attracting wildlife.  Gardeners are needed to help maintain and enhance this extensive garden. 

 

Requirements:

  • Be 18 or volunteer with an adult
  • Have transportation
  • Access to the internet
  • Ability to work on your own
  • Previous gardening experience

 

Job Duties:

  • Attend orientation and initial training
  • Coordinate with Natural Areas Department (NAD) staff to develop tasks
  • Coordinate schedule with Volunteer Coordinator
  • Input volunteer hours in Engage
  • Pull weeds, prune and clear garden beds as directed by NAD staff
  • Attend continuing education as available

Training

Orientation - Tuesday, May 15th 9am-10am @ Nix Headquarters 1745 Hoffman Mill Rd

Working Days - Monday / Tuesday 8am-11am (weather dependent)
