The City of Fort Collins Historic Preservation team is supporting the Poudre Landmarks Foundation's Historic Homes Tour again this year and we need your help! The Historic Homes Tour is one of Poudre Landmarks Foundation's signature annual events, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore some of Fort Collins' historic homes and learn about the people, architecture, and stories that make our community special. The Homes Tour includes several publicly-owned sites including the Museo de las Tres Colonias in the former Romero family home, nestled in the historic Andersonville neighborhood. The neighborhood was home to both German Russian and Mexican American residents who worked in the sugar beet industry over the 1900s. The Museo is an adobe dwelling and the former home of well-known Hispanic residents John and Inez Romero. It is now a house-museum owned by the City and managed by the Museo de las Tres Colonias. This event depends on volunteers. Whether you are passionate about local history, enjoy meeting people, or simply want to support historic preservation, we invite you to join us. Volunteers check in visitors to the home, provide tour information, and help create a positive experience for guests and homeowners. No prior experience is necessary. Training and historical information will be provided. Responsibilities include: - Greeting guests as they visit the property. - Sharing historical information about the property - Answering basic visitor questions. - Helping ensure guests follow museum and Park guidelines. Volunteer Shifts are for either the morning (9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) or the afternoon (12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) at the Museo at 425 10th St., just north of Romero Park. All volunteers receive: - Complimentary Historic Homes Tour ticket and guide book - Volunteer training and orientation - Opportunity to support local historic preservation Help us make this year's Historic Homes Tour a success! *Note: If all volunteer slots are filled, we'll reach out with information on how to sign up with the Poudre Landmarks Foundation directly to volunteer at a different property. Cheers!
