National Trails Day Volunteer Event

 06/08/2024  |  08:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Fossil Creek Reservoir Natural Area  |  Registration Required

Stewardship Project

Thank you for signing up to help with a National Trails Day Volunteer Project. The purpose of this project is to repair the soft surface crusher trail that parallels Carpenter after several years of erosion. This is intended to bring the trail back to an accessible status. Volunteers will be needed to help spread crusher material evenly across the trail surface. Some surfaces will be uneven and loose. *This project is designed to be accessible for those with a disability, particularly one that limits mobility.* A limited number of accessible trail chairs will also be available for participants to try on the redone trail.* Lunch, volunteer gifts, and a chance to win fabulous prizes will be available to those who stay for the duration of this event! Here are some important things to know before signing up: 1) This event is for community members ages 12+ and no dogs are allowed at this event. 2) All participants must sign up through this link and will be prompted to sign a waiver (yay for less paper at the event!) 3) Meeting and sign-in location will be at the Fossil Creek Reservoir parking lot at roughly 3340 Carpenter Road. Signage will be provided to direct participants. 4) Registration will open at 8:30am with stewardship activity beginning around 9am. 4) Bring water and sun protection. Wear long pants and durable shoes. Gloves and any necessary tools will be provided. 5) More specifics will be provided after registration. Volunteers will be given an important safety talk and split into groups before hitting the trail. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking and heavy use at this area. Snacks and water jugs (for refills) will be provided. Please bring your own water container, warm/layered clothing, close-toed footwear adequate for a dirt path, and any other items for a morning of comfort outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Please reach out to AJ Chlebnik with any questions at (970)224-6118 or [email protected] People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. If you'd like to request an accommodation (language interpretation, wheelchair access, etc.) please fill out the form linked under this activity. You can also copy and paste this link to access the same form: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7669173/Accessibility-and-Accommodation-Request-Form If accommodations are needed for an activity, please allow two (2) weeks prior to the event to process your request and arrange the accommodation, if available.
