Natural Areas After Dark

Where: Coyote Ridge Natural Area, meet at the cabin, approximately 1 mile down the trail. It will take approximately 30 minutes to hike to the cabin, so PLEASE plan accordingly so that you are at the cabin at or before 7:30 p.m. program will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. When: Friday, Aug. 8th, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Sunset is at 8:07 p.m. Program Description: Spend a cozy evening by the campfire, complete with sky stories and s’mores! These programs are suitable for all ages. Dress warmly and bring water to drink. Meet your naturalist guide at the cabin and enjoy a campfire and stories on the deck. Program Topic: How the moon affects the Earth, and life on it. Join naturalist Karen Colombo to learn about the solar system, the moon's impacts on earth, and why humans are so fascinated by the sky. Enjoy a lesson, followed by smores, followed by a Full Moon Hike lead by Karen. Accessibility: 2 miles round-trip; easy hike with one large hill each way. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring multiple layers. Bring sunscreen, a hat / sunglasses, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, insect repellent, and plenty of water. Trails may be muddy so please wear proper footwear. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them, and a headlamp or flashlight for the walk back. ___________________________________________________________________ People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations.
