Where: Prospect Ponds Natural Area, (SOUTH LOT) 2108 SHARP POINT DR When: Saturday August 24, 9:00 - 11:00 am Program Description: You too can take great nature photos with your smartphone! Learn to basics of framing, light and people photography as we stroll and roll along the river, ponds and forest. This will be a relaxed easy walk along some of our most beautiful water spots where we can take some beautiful and interesting photos. We will meet at the south parking lot of Prospect Ponds Natural Area. We will walk around and beside 4 ponds and the Poudre River. The entire hike will be on the Poudre Trail which is wide, flat and well maintained. If conditions and time permit, we will also hike downriver to the end of the Poudre Trail at the CSU Environmental Center where there is a public restroom. The total distance will be 1-2 miles. Program may be modified based on weather. Accessibility: This program has been designed with accessibility in mind and is open to everyone. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring in multiple layers for both active walking and standing still. Bring sunscreen, a hat and gloves, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them. Hiking poles are a great option if you are concerned about balance on uneven terrain. All photography skill levels are encouraged and any camera type from smartphone to professional telephotos cameras. __________________________________________________________________ People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. Bill W - Volunteer Naturalist

I have been a volunteer naturalist since early 2023. My special interests include prairie dogs, photographing people in nature, diversity and access. My wife Barbara and I moved to Fort Collins in 2019 from Dallas. My volunteer work in Texas included service as a Texas Master Naturalist, 15 years as a Boy Scout leader and numerous medical projects as a physician. We come from Canada originally but moved often as a Service brat and later serving as a medical officer. We have 4 dogs.

Born and raised in New Jersey, (still a Rutgers fan!!). College in Pennsylvania, graduate school in Princeton, NJ, and South Bend, IN. Currently retired. Lived in NJ, Missouri, Wisconsin, New York, Houston, TX, PA, and Ohio. Retired to Fort Collins area in 2021. Hobbies and interests: fly fishing, jazz guitar, wildlife photography. Family: married to Karen, parents of Emily (Denver,CO), and currently sharing home with Benson, our rescue dog.
