Where: Poudre Trail. Park at the tennis courts at Lee Martinez Park and follow the paved trail west until you come to a small beach on the north side of the trail. When: Wednesday, July 17, 9:30am - 12pm. Registration highly suggested, but not required. Only registered participants will be notified if program is canceled or postponed. Program Description: All ages welcome! Use dip nets and collecting trays to discover what lives beneath the surface of the Cache la Poudre River. Biologists will be on hand to help identify your finds. All dip netting equipment is provided. Accessibility: Program takes place almost entirely on a paved bike trail easily accessible to any mobility devices. Up to 1 mile, round trip. Bathrooms available near the Lee Martinez Park playground. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen; a hat; closed-toe, sturdy shoes; and water to drink. This program takes place in the river, so bug repellent or long sleeves are highly suggested. Bring water shoes and towels for river fun! CancelBill was born in Canada where he met his wife Barbara, earned his MD, had 2 sons, served in the Canadian Armed Forces and settled into practicing Family Medicine. He and family then moved to Dallas Texas where they stayed for over 3 decades before settling in Fort Collins in 2019. In the past Bill enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader for 15 years, running camping and canoeing. He has been a Texas Master Naturalist. Bill is happy to be a Volunteer Naturalist for the City of Fort Collins.
I am a veterinarian as well as a retired PSD science and physical education teacher. I served a total of twenty years on the Parks and Recreation board. I enjoy teaching and participating in fun activities as well as meeting new friends. I love to do activities with Ivy, my therapy dog. I am an author.
