Natural Discoveries - Adult
Ancient rockslide features are common along the Dakota hogback from Fort Collins to the Wyoming border. Maxwell NA is an excellent location for observing the modified landscape features associated with a rockslide. We’ll discuss a proposed model on how Dakota rockslides form as well as other interesting Dakota topics and observations along the trail. Hike will go along the Foothills trail to Aggie Peak, 4 miles round trip with 600 ft. elevation gain. Please wear sturdy shoes, bring water and any snacks you need! Location: Maxwell Natural Area, meet at parking lot off of CR 42C (Dixon Canyon Road). Masks are optional for all vaccinated volunteers and participants. We kindly ask that unvaccinated participants wear a mask whenever they are within 6 feet of of others. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (or aren't feeling well for any reason), please stay home and notify the activity contact.
