Natural Discoveries - Adult

Where: Bobcat Ridge Natural Area, meet in the parking lot near the restrooms. Program will hike the Valley Loop, about 4.5 miles When: Friday, May 31, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm Program Description: Celebrate spring at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area, one of the best places to learn about the formation of the Rockies and the Great Plains. It's also the ideal place to see how the 2020 Cameron Peak fire has changed this wonderful place. We'll also focus on flowering plants and the animals that call this place their home. Accessibility: Program takes place on uneven dirt trails. Slight elevation changes, Restroom in the parking lot. Program is appropriate for adults. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring multiple layers for both active walking and standing still. Bring sunscreen, a hat / sunglasses, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. Trails may be muddy so please wear proper footwear. Hiking poles are a great option if you are concerned about balance on uneven/muddy terrain. ___________________________________________________________________ People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. After graduating in the first class of Environmental Sciences at U. of Virginia (1974), worked For EPA for ten years writing Environmental Impact Statements and being the Regional coordinator for Endangered and Threatened Species. The next 20 years, was the greenhouse and gardener supervisor at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Since 1986, has led monthly natural history hikes primarily in the Shenandoah National Park. Moved to Fort Collins in 2019 and lead hikes for the city and county.
