Natural Discoveries
When: Saturday, May 10th, 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Where: Riverbend Ponds Natural Area. Meet at Sharp Point Drive parking lot (just east of OCR on south side of Prospect Road) for a 3 mile easy walk. Activity Description: Join naturalist Rob Pickett as we explore the ponds and woodlands that provide habitat for many waterfowl and mammals. Eastern species can be found as far West as along this stretch of the Poudre River, including white-tailed deer and eastern cotton-tailed rabbits. Early wildflowers will also be sought out. Accessibility: Program takes place outside and along an ADA accessible trail. Accessible bathrooms and parking available. Hike of up to 0.5 mile, easy. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat if you want one, closed-toe, sturdy shoes for outdoor observations, and plenty of water.

Rob P - Volunteer Naturalist
After graduating in the first class of Environmental Sciences at U. of Virginia (1974), worked For EPA for ten years writing Environmental Impact Statements and being the Regional coordinator for Endangered and Threatened Species. The next 20 years, was the greenhouse and gardener supervisor at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Since 1986, has led monthly natural history hikes primarily in the Shenandoah National Park. Moved to Fort Collins in 2019 and lead hikes for the city and county.
