Show your support for volunteerism by attending the Mayor's reading of a proclamation declaring April 15-21 National Volunteer Week in Fort Collins. National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week. Attend any of the City's events to celebrate the impact of volunteers in your community, and inspire others to serve. President Richard Nixon established National Volunteer Week with an executive order in 1974, as a way to recognize and celebrate the efforts of volunteers. Every sitting U.S. president since Nixon has issued a proclamation during National Volunteer Week (as have many U.S. mayors and governors).
