Natural Discoveries (Community Program) - Mixed Ages
Where: Reservoir Ridge Natural Area, Overland Trail Road Entrance. Meet at the parking lot off of Overland Trail, across from the Poudre Overlook Subdivision. Program Description: The Bobolinks are back! Each year for a short time, we are visited by one of Colorado's rare birds, the bobolink, and they only come to one small place in Fort Collins, Reservoir Ridge! Kids, bring your parents for a fun morning of bobolink spotting with a volunteer from Fort Collins Natural Areas. We will take a walk and learn to listen and see this special visitor and some of its friends. The trail is flat and easy. All materials will be provided. Accessibility: Program takes place on a wide dirt trail, easy and flat. Hike is approximately 1 mile long. Accessible bathroom available at parking lot. If you have any questions or concerns about the accessibility of a program, please contact [email protected] or call 970-416-2815 for more information. People with disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. Amy H - Volunteer Naturalist
I worked in the outdoor industry for 22 years for climbing, mountain and ski equipment and apparel brands. After that I became involved in local land conservation work here in NoCO. I have guided hikes and led outdoor education classes for a nationwide conservation nonprofit, the Family Nature Summits, since (gulp!) 1989. I now work as a freelance writer, connecting the public to the "gee whiz" of nature and science.
Bill R - Photographer
I’m a long-time amateur photographer interested primarily in nature: landscapes and wildlife. My wife and I vacationed annually in RMNP for 30+ years until we finally retired and moved to Fort Collins 9 years ago. I’ve delighted in exploring the natural areas in town and Larimer County. I look forward to doing more of it in maybe a more structured way as a volunteer.
Theresa M - Volunteer Naturalist Assistant

She now spends her days hiking, riding horses, and deepening her relationship with the natural world. She enjoys helping others experience how nature calms the nervous system and restores balance. Blending scientific insight with lived, embodied practice, she guides people toward simple, nature-based ways of finding calm and resilience.
