Natural Areas After Dark - Mixed Ages

Spend a cozy evening by the campfire, complete with stories and s’mores! These programs are suitable for all ages. Dress warmly and bring water to drink. Campfires at Nix Farm do not include a hike and are wheelchair accessible. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on if you like (limited seating available). Location: Nix Farm (Natural Areas Office), 1745 Hoffman Mill Road Go north on Lemay from Riverside and turn right on Poudre River Drive (about ½ block north of Riverside). This is located between two medical buildings. After about 1 block, the Poudre River Drive ends and you will see a paved road to your right which is Hoffman Mill Road. Stay on this paved road for almost a mile (past the crushing facility). The road ends at our offices. Tonight's theme is: Scat Happens!: practice your observation skills and learn how to be a scat detective.

I am a Public Engagement Specialist with the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas and I organize community programs, programs by request and interpretive communications like signs and brochures. I'm excited to be back in Fort Collins again after being gone for 15 years. My favorite things to talk about are conservation issues, conservation research and raptors!! The black blur in the profile photo is my cattle dog. She never stops moving!

Our connection to nature is often a deeply personal, spiritual experience. When I trot up a trail, it is about so much more than the physical act of walking. It puts me in a more receptive mindset, I am paying attention to things that are there as much as the things that aren’t. Nature is where I feel at home, where I come to seek clarity, seek guidance, seek thought and yes, seek answers, about the challenges that life throws my way.
