Fort Collins is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the United States. Have you ever wondered why? Earning that recognition took a lot of hard work by a lot of dedicated people, and it started with Bette Sears. Join City staff for a bike ride through bike history, where we’ll learn about the early history of bikes in Fort Collins, how bike infrastructure is changing around the city, and how community advocates like Bette Sears helped push for safer streets and more transportation choices in Fort Collins. This 3.5 mile bike tour through Old Town Fort Collins will meet at the Museum of Discovery. After the ride, explore more bike history and resources in the Archive. We will ride at a relaxed, conversational pace and remain together as a group. Ride support will include assistance with minor mechanical issues or flats during the ride. Please bring a working bike, a helmet, sunscreen and water. If you plan to arrive by car, vehicle parking is available at the Museum of Discovery. The Museum is also just one block north of the Downtown Transit Center if you plan to arrive by bus. The City can provide bikes and helmets if you need to borrow. Please reach out to the activity contact two weeks before the program so that staff can have your request ready for you. Spaces are limited; register today!
