Where: McMurry Natural Area. Meet at the Shields Street River Access. When: Friday, February 17, 2-4p.m. Program Description: Discover a special Poudre River natural area right in town. The riparian and forest habitat supports a variety of plant and animal life, even during the colder months. Take a winter walk along the river with volunteer naturalists. Please dress for the weather, including shoes that can get muddy. Accessibility: Program takes place on dirt trails. Easy but uneven terrain. Hike is less than 2 miles long. Accessible bathrooms available at Shields St. River Access. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water.

Raised on a midwest farm, I have lived in and explored the Rockies of Colorado, Montana, and New Mexico for over 30 years. I have worked for the U.S. Forest Service and an archaeological research center and served on the Boards of the Fort Collins Audubon Society and the Gardens on Spring Creek.
Master Naturalist since 2010, my career was in marine biology, genetics and DNA research. In retirement I especially like leading nature programs highlighting the beauty and biodiversity of the City’s natural areas.
