Where: Meet at Shields Street River Access Natural Area parking lot: On Shields Street, between Willox and Vine on the west side of the road, north side of the river. The approximate address is 1219 North Shields Street. From there, you will leave the paved Poudre Trail and walk through the unpaved trails at McMurry Natural Area When: Saturday, March 29th, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Activity Description: Learn about the various strategies that the terrestrial and aquatic wildlife of the Poudre River corridor adapt to survive the winter. Discover what leaves and what stays, but changes their survival tactics. Learn about migrating songbirds, animals that change their diets, critters that live in different places based on the seasons, and animals that employ different methods of hibernation. Accessibility: Walk is under 2 miles on level, possibly muddy terrain. Restroom located at trailhead. What to Bring: Dress for the weather and bring water to drink. Wear sunscreen and closed-toe, sturdy shoes.
