Natural Discoveries - Adult

*Registration for this program is required and will close on 5/9/24 at midnight* Where: Maxwell Natural Area, meet at the parking lot off of County Road 42C/Dixon Canyon Road. When: Friday, May 10, 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Program Description: Observe the landscape features at Maxwell, and discuss how rockslides form and the risks they pose. Program ends at the "A" at approximately 11am and participants can hike back at their own pace. Accessibility: Program takes place on dirt trails. Uneven terrain with about 600 ft. of elevation gain. There is an accessible bathroom at the trailhead parking lot. Total hiking distance is 4 miles. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring multiple layers for both active walking and standing still. Bring sunscreen, a hat / sunglasses, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. Trails may be muddy so please wear proper footwear. Hiking poles are a great option if you are concerned about balance on uneven/muddy terrain. ___________________________________________________________________ People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations.
