Where: Prospect Ponds Natural Area, South Entrance. Access the parking lot by turning southeast at the intersection of Sharp Point Dr. & Midpoint Dr., driving between 2 ponds, past the Drake Water Reclamation Facility. If coming by bike on the Poudre Trail, the parking lot is at the 5.25 mile marker of the Poudre Trail East. When: Thursday March 7, 9:00 am – 11:00 am Program Description: This will be a relaxed easy walk along some of our most beautiful water spots where we can take some beautiful and interesting photos. We will meet at the south parking lot of Prospect Ponds Natural Area. There will briefly discuss some of the challenges of winter and water and ice photography. We will walk around and beside 4 ponds and the Poudre River. The entire hike will be on the Poudre Trail which is wide, flat and well maintained. If conditions and time permit, we will also hike downriver to the end of the Poudre Trail at the CSU Environmental Center where there is a public restroom. The total distance will be 1-2 miles. Program may be modified based on weather. Accessibility: This program has been designed with accessibility in mind and is open to everyone. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring in multiple layers for both active walking and standing still. Bring sunscreen, a hat and gloves, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them. Hiking poles are a great option if you are concerned about balance on uneven terrain. All photography skill levels are encouraged and any camera type from smartphone to professional telephotos cameras. ___________________________________________________________________ People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. Bill was born in Canada where he met his wife Barbara, earned his MD, had 2 sons, served in the Canadian Armed Forces and settled into practicing Family Medicine. He and family then moved to Dallas Texas where they stayed for over 3 decades before settling in Fort Collins in 2019. In the past Bill enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader for 15 years, running camping and canoeing. He has been a Texas Master Naturalist. Bill is happy to be a Volunteer Naturalist for the City of Fort Collins.

Born and raised in New Jersey, (still a Rutgers fan!!). College in Pennsylvania, graduate school in Princeton, NJ, and South Bend, IN. Currently retired. Lived in NJ, Missouri, Wisconsin, New York, Houston, TX, PA, and Ohio. Retired to Fort Collins area in 2021. Hobbies and interests: fly fishing, jazz guitar, wildlife photography. Family: married to Karen, parents of Emily (Denver,CO), and currently sharing home with Benson, our rescue dog.
