Natural Discoveries (Community Program)
When: Saturday March 7, 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Where :Meet at Lee Martinez Park. Walk will be along the Poudre River Trail. Activity Description: How often have you walked along the Poudre River and found something you'd like to know more about? Whether it's plants, birds, mammals, insects or geology, join naturalist Rob Pickett as we learn more about our natural environment. Accessibility: Program takes along paved trails, with little elevation change. Program is appropriate for adults. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring multiple layers for both active walking and standing still. Bring sunscreen, a hat/sunglasses, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. Trails may be muddy so please wear proper footwear. Binoculars are helpful for identifying birds. People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. After graduating in the first class of Environmental Sciences at U. of Virginia (1974), worked For EPA for ten years writing Environmental Impact Statements and being the Regional coordinator for Endangered and Threatened Species. The next 20 years, was the greenhouse and gardener supervisor at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Since 1986, has led monthly natural history hikes primarily in the Shenandoah National Park. Moved to Fort Collins in 2019 and lead hikes for the city and county.
