Natural Discoveries - Mixed Ages

Join a naturalist for a walk around Pineridge Natural Area, a small oasis of biodiversity trapped between the City of Fort Collins and the Horsetooth reservoir. Find out why is the humble prairie dog one of the most important rings in an ecosystem chain. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes that can get muddy. This program is most appropriate for older children and adults, but all are welcome. 2 miles, easy. Location: Dixon Reservoir parking lot, off of County Road 42C. From the intersection of Drake and Overland Trail head north, then head west near the Holiday Twin Drive-Inn towards the foothills and Maxwell Natural Areas. Drive past Maxwell Natural Area and start heading up the hill. Pineridge Natural Area will be on your left. Group will meet in the top half of the parking lot. Carpool with your household if you can. Be prepared for the possibility that you may need to park down near Maxwell and follow the dirt trail to the Pineridge Parking Lot. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and physical distancing will be required by any participants and volunteers during this program. No more than 10 people will be present at the program. Program requirements are subject to change as CDC and County guidelines are updated. Additional instructions will be sent by e-mail to those registered prior to the program. Waivers will be required to be signed either online or in person upon arrival. If you or anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 (cough, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste/smell, etc.) do not attend this program. Visit https://www.larimer.org/health/communicable-disease/coronavirus-covid-19 for more information.
