Voices of the Past (Community Program)

Where: Soapstone Prairie. Meet in North Parking Lot. Activity Description: The Lindenmeier site is one of the earliest gathering places in the Americas that archaeologists have investigated. It dates to 12,300 years ago and was clearly used by large groups repeatedly. This is a remarkable place significant to Native Americans, to archaeologists, and our community. Come discover why. Accessibility: Program takes place outside and along an ADA accessible trail. Accessible bathrooms and parking available. Hike to Lindenmeier Overlook: easy, 1/4 mile paved trail to pavilion with interpretive signs and seating. If you have any questions or concerns about the accessibility of a program, please contact [email protected] or call 970-416-2815 for more information. People with disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. Requests for disability-related services can be made during registration through the activity contact or by calling 970-416-2815 at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the activity. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat if you want one, closed-toe, sturdy shoes for outdoor observations, and plenty of water.

Joan Profile Photo

Joan C - Volunteer Naturalist Assistant

I've been an active volunteer in education since 1984 with school field trips, with trail hikes near Oregon's Columbia River Gorge, and with tours at FC's historic Avery House. Besides regularly camping and hiking in Rocky, I've assisted the NAD since 2013 and love learning more of the history, geology, ecology, flora, fauna, and stewardship of our unique northern Front Range region.
