Natural Discoveries - Mixed Ages

Where: Reservoir Ridge and Primrose Studio When: Sunday, August 4, 8:00am - 10:00am Program Description: Enjoy a short hike with a naturalist to explore the local environment. Meet at the Michaud parking lot. Hike is 1-2 miles, easy. Then at Primrose Studio, learn about the amazing raptors that populate Colorado's Front Range and how we can help conserve them. Observe live raptors up close with a visit from special guest, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. Program will meet at the Michaud parking lot at 8am, hike the Michaud Spur out and back (about 1 mile) and then hike less than .5 mile to Primrose for the program with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program at 9am. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them. Accessibility: Raptor program takes place at the accessible Primrose studio. Anyone in need of transportation to the studio can contact [email protected] for arrangements. Bill was born in Canada where he met his wife Barbara, earned his MD, had 2 sons, served in the Canadian Armed Forces and settled into practicing Family Medicine. He and family then moved to Dallas Texas where they stayed for over 3 decades before settling in Fort Collins in 2019. In the past Bill enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader for 15 years, running camping and canoeing. He has been a Texas Master Naturalist. Bill is happy to be a Volunteer Naturalist for the City of Fort Collins.

Rob P - Volunteer Naturalist

After graduating in the first class of Environmental Sciences at U. of Virginia (1974), worked For EPA for ten years writing Environmental Impact Statements and being the Regional coordinator for Endangered and Threatened Species. The next 20 years, was the greenhouse and gardener supervisor at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Since 1986, has led monthly natural history hikes primarily in the Shenandoah National Park. Moved to Fort Collins in 2019 and lead hikes for the city and county.
