Natural Discoveries (Community Program)

Where: Pineridge Natural Area. Meet in the parking lot. When: Saturday June 14th, 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Program Description: Pineridge Natural Area is known for its wildflower display, including the globally rare Front Range twinpod. Pineridge Natural Area is also a great area to discuss the local geology and how it related to flower locations. Accessibility: Program takes place outside and along an ADA accessible trail. Accessible bathrooms and parking available. Hike of up to 0.5 mile, easy. If you have any questions or concerns about the accessibility of a program, please contact [email protected] or call 970-416-2815 for more information. People with disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. Requests for disability-related services can be made during registration through the activity contact or by calling 970-416-2815 at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the activity. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat if you want one, closed-toe, sturdy shoes for outdoor observations, and plenty of water. Art supplies will be available, but feel free to bring your own as well. Consider bringing something to sit on outside

After graduating in the first class of Environmental Sciences at U. of Virginia (1974), worked For EPA for ten years writing Environmental Impact Statements and being the Regional coordinator for Endangered and Threatened Species. The next 20 years, was the greenhouse and gardener supervisor at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Since 1986, has led monthly natural history hikes primarily in the Shenandoah National Park. Moved to Fort Collins in 2019 and lead hikes for the city and county.
