Volunteer Training
Interested in collecting data on how light pollution affects our urban Natural Areas? This volunteer opportunity is open to community members 18 years of age and older. Children may accompany adults on a night sky monitoring visit. Volunteers will need access to a smartphone and know how to use it. If you are not already a volunteer with Natural Areas, a Stewardship Volunteer application will be sent to you upon registration. At this training, you'll learn: - How light pollution impacts the health of wildlife and people. - How to record light pollution on natural areas - Effective ways to reduce light pollution Training will take place from 5:30 - 7pm. Volunteer commitment will include collecting data independently at assigned natural areas throughout the winter. Each volunteer will be assigned 1-2 sites and will be expected to visit them at least twice over the winter.
