*This event has been canceled due to poor road conditions. * Discover a special Poudre River natural area right in town. The wetland and forest habitat supports a variety of plant and animal life. Take a winter walk along the river! Please dress for the weather, including shoes that can get muddy. 1.5 miles; easy Location: North Shields Ponds. Park at Shields St. River Access and walk over if there is no room in the parking lot. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and physical distancing will be required by any participants and volunteers during this program. No more than 10 people will be present at the program. Program requirements are subject to change as CDC and County guidelines are updated. Additional instructions will be sent by e-mail to those registered prior to the program. Waivers will be required to be signed either online or in person upon arrival. If you or anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 (cough, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste/smell, etc.) do not attend this program. Raised on a midwest farm, I have lived in and explored the Rockies of Colorado, Montana, and New Mexico for over 30 years. I have worked for the U.S. Forest Service and an archaeological research center and served on the Boards of the Fort Collins Audubon Society and the Gardens on Spring Creek.
I’ve always been drawn to nature, growing up in New England, working in Minnesota and then retiring to Colorado. Since 2010, I’ve enjoyed leading nature programs highlighting the beauty and biodiversity of our Natural Areas.
