Accessible bathrooms available at Gateway parking area. No cell service at this location. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast in layers. Bring closed-toe, sturdy shoes, water, bug spray and a flashlight. Program Description: Join a bat biologist for a guided “bat walk” to learn more about local bats and the important ecological roles they play on the Front Range. Attendees will also be able to hear the real-time echolocation calls of bats, which are inaudible to humans without the use of technology. Learn where bats live and why they're important at the site of the largest maternal roost in Northern CO! About the guide: Amanda Bevan is a PhD candidate in the Adams Bat Lab at the University of Northern Colorado and is on the board of directors of The Colorado Bat Society. Her research investigates how forests recovering from recent severe and widespread bark beetle outbreaks are affecting bat-associated food webs.
