Volunteer Projects - Mixed Ages

Volunteer to "shadow-plant" trees near adjacent ash trees in Spring Canyon Community Park. Our ash trees are threatened by the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive species that has been detected only within Boulder County. Shadow planting is planting 2-inch caliper trees near susceptible ash trees. This allows the positive benefits trees provide to continue once the ash tree needs to be removed due to eventual emerald ash borer infestation. Volunteers will receive lunch. Please bring your own gloves and wear closed toed shoes. Sunscreen, materials, and tools are provided. Kids projects available. If we finish planting early, mulching projects will also be available. We will be near the playground off of Horsetooth Road. All ages welcome.
