Where: Meet at Maxwell Natural Area parking lot. Group will meet and together cross the crosswalk to Pineridge Natural Area When: Friday, April 5, 2-4 pm Program Description: Discover Woodland, wetland, and prairie habitats and the varied plants and animals that can be found there. Explore how the web of life encourages support as well as competition, and consider how we can be respectful of the resident wildlife. We’ll hike about two miles around Dixon Reservoir. Accessibility: Program takes place on dirt trails with occasional rock hazards, and little elevation gain. Trails may be muddy. Restrooms at parking lot. . What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring in multiple layers for both active walking and standing still. Bring sunscreen, a hat and gloves, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. Trails may be muddy so please wear proper footwear. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them. Raised on a midwest farm, I have lived in and explored the Rockies of Colorado, Montana, and New Mexico for over 30 years. I have worked for the U.S. Forest Service and an archaeological research center and served on the Boards of the Fort Collins Audubon Society and the Gardens on Spring Creek.
Master Naturalist since 2010, my career was in marine biology, genetics and DNA research. In retirement I especially like leading nature programs highlighting the beauty and biodiversity of the City’s natural areas.
